Shades of Grey Chapter 2

As soon as Mathew was safe on the bus, Laura jumped into his bed and slept half the day. Ashley was still passed out on the floor. They both slept until about 1 in the afternoon.
Mathew met a few kids at school, but he wasn't feeling very well. He didn't like going to school smelling like he did. And the smell just got worse through out the day. Here he is glaring at the bus driver.
*Mathew and his glares are starting to creep me out.*

After school let out he sat down on the grass, by the side of the road to do his homework. Mathew knew he wouldn't be able to get much work done at home, with his sister screaming and the house was too cramped to have a place to work. Homework time didn't last long, his stomach grumbling wouldn't let him work long. He left his homework at 30% complete and ran home to eat some left over salad, which was the same thing he had for breakfast.

As Mathew ate his salad and got ready for bed Laura took Ashley outside to teach her how to walk. They both have grumpy personalities, so they had their moments of anger and frustration. Ashley was a quick learner and soon they were having a good time, giggling and laughing.

While they were outside Laura realized that there were bills in the mailbox. 35 dollars didn't seem like much, but when you are as short on cash as Laura was it seemed like a LOT. She really needed to find something to make some extra money. Ashley had slept the day away, so she was wide awake. Laura was afraid her poor baby would end up being nocturnal, sleeping all day and up all night, if she didn't get a crib soon. Mathew just wouldn't sleep through her crying and no one could handle another night like the last one. Laura had an idea....

It probably wasn't the best idea, but it's all she could think of in the moment. Mathew was asleep, so she took Ashley down the street with her and began to rummage through her neighbors trash. It was humiliating, but Ashley would be too young to remember and Mathew would never have to know.

After a night of rummaging through trash cans Laura smelled worse than a land fill, but she had found a few valuable items. She found one 29 dollar Ruby, it must have been thrown out by mistake, and she found one 133 dollar Diamond! She couldn't believe her luck, someone must have broken up with a spouse and thrown out that diamond. The last thing she found was a Bell Pepper of Great Quality worth 24 dollars. She sold everything, but she was still short on money. Even the cheapest crib was too much for her. Laura took Ashley home and sold the small table lamp, and the small table. Each were 31 dollar items and still a little short of money she sold their tiny trash can, giving them 18 more dollars. Everything added up to 266 dollars and the cheapest crib was 275. She could spare the extra 9 dollars from her meager cash supply.

Ashley had a crib! Laura had never seen her so happy! She laughed and giggled in her crib until she finally fell asleep around 2 am. Exhausted and smelling to high heaven, Laura went into their bathroom and took a sponge bath in their sink.
*I didn't get pics of the sponge bath, as funny as those are Ashley was being too cute and I couldn't stop watching her.*

Mathew got up the next morning, ate some more of that salad, which wasn't as good as it was the day before and sat down at the table to work on his homework. He only got his 30% finished homework up to 40% by the time the bus showed up. As much as he wanted to, and as bad as he smelled, he refused to take a sponge bath in the sink. He had grown up in such a nice home, with everything he wanted, and he just couldn't bring himself to bath in a filthy sink.

After school let out Mathew spotted a Gym near by. He thought a dip in the pool might remove some of that smell. Once he got inside he realized they had showers! H literally RAN to a show and jumped in.

*I could have swore I heard him whistling while he was in there!*

For some reason when Mathew was done with his shower he thought it would be a good idea to sit outside and do his homework.... In his underwear! He was so focused on his homework he didn't notice the people laughing at him and pointing. Mathew finished his homework and realized he was still in his underpants. He looked embarrassed as he quickly put on his cloths and rode his bike home. At least his homework was 100% complete! Maybe he won't fail at school after all.

Shades of Grey. CH 1

The first night in their new house began simple enough. Everyone was hungry, so after giving Ashley a bottle Laura started a dinner of salad. Before she could even begin chopping she realized she had no place to cook. So she ordered the cheapest, and ugliest, counter top she could find and had it "quick delivered". She and Mathew soon enjoyed their meal, sitting at their kitchen table. Laura was pretty sure the table and chairs were lawn furniture, but that didn't make the meal any less tasty.

It was still fairly early, so Laura sent Mathew out to try and catch some fish from the river behind the house. While she entertained Ashley, Mathew had a blast fishing. He didn't catch anything, but he was having some fun and he really needed that after the hard time he's had. He thought he might be able to sell some fish in the future, if he ever caught any, and help his mom out.

It started getting late, and Laura called Mathew in side and had him sleep on the only bed in the house. He had to get up and go to school the next day, and he needed rest. He fell asleep almost immediately, but the peace didn't last long.

As Mathew fell asleep Laura sat down to read the only book she had in her inventory. A skill book about handiness. She left Ashley on the floor by her feet, to play while she read. The quiet didn't last long, Ashley started screaming because she was tired and feeling neglected as her mother read.

Mathew had jumped out of bed to glare at his screaming sister, so Laura took Ashley outside. They played for a while, Ashley loves being tickled and tossed in the air. Once Mathew went back to sleep Laura gave Ashley another bottle, and went inside to read some more. She left poor Ashley outside alone.

Once she finished her bottle she began to scream again, and Mathew got up and ran outside to glare at his screaming sister. This happened off and on all night until everyone was exhausted. It didn't seem to matter where Laura took Ashley, if they were anywhere on the lot while Ashley cried, poor Mathew got no sleep.

Ashley screamed off and on all night, until about 4 am...

... when she finally passed out from exhaustion in the middle of the room. Mathew got a few small hours of sleep before he had to get up for school in the morning. Laura knew she had to do something to get a crib for Ashley, but a job was out of the question until Ashley was old enough to start school. She just couldn't afford a babysitter.

Chapter 2 is on it's way. Find out how Mathews first day of school went, and how is Laura going to find the money to buy a crib?

Shades of Grey, the Intro.

This is Laura Grey. Her traits are Handy, Inappropriate, Neat, Grumpy and Lucky. Her favorites are Electronica, Goopy Carbonara and the color Lilac. She is the only sim in this story that I chose traits for. I wanted her to be Neat, Lucky and Handy, then with the situation she is in I thought Inapropriate and Grumpy would be interesting and more realistic. The childrens traits are random.

This is Mathew Grey. His traits are Brave, Good Sense of Humor and Inappropriate. His favorites are Latin music, Mac and Cheese and the color Sea Foam.

Here is little Ashley Grey. Her traits are good and grumpy. Her favorite things are Pop Music, Pancakes and the color Turquoise.
Now that the introductions have been made, ON with the story!! ;)
Laura Grey and her two children needed a place to stay. They had next to nothing as far as money and personal belongings, and they were lucky someone allowed them to rent a small building somewhat close to town. It wasn’t a house exactly, not quite a shack either. The small, square building had one main room and a bathroom. Laura knew it would be cramped, and completely inadequate for a family of three, but it was all she could afford. She furnished it as sparsely as she possibly could. There had only the very basics, a fridge, a sink, a toilet, a table and a bed. It would be hard, but she thought she could do it.
Laura and her two children, Mathew and Ashley, had been through a lot. Laura had been married to a man who treated his family like they were the most precious things the world had to offer. His name was Walter and he was a wonderful husband and father. He gave them everything they could ever need, and most of the things they wanted. They were not a rich family, but they were far above average. Then tragedy struck in the form of a lightning bolt.
Walter had been out fishing with some of his friends, when out of the clear blue sky a bold of lightning struck and killed him. He died instantly. Laura was devastated. She didn’t know how she could live without Walter, and she had two children to take care of on her own.

She thought she would do fine, she thought Walter had life insurance. He didn’t. Then a few days after the funeral the papers started coming in the mail and the phone started ringing off the hook. It was Tax Collectors. What Laura hadn’t known was that Walter had been avoiding paying taxes for quite some time. That’s how they were able to afford the large house and two cars. Now she was stuck with the tax bills, and no way to pay.

That’s when she decided to leave everything behind, take the kids and move to Riverview. Only taking a suitcase with a few changes of cloths for her and the kids, and a little cash she had stashed in a cookie jar, she left to start a new life. Let the tax collectors have the rest, she thought, and never looked back.

My First Blog Post!

This is my first blog post. This is actually my first blog. I don't want to write about my everyday life, because that's boring and no one would want to read that. So I'm writing a Sims 3 Story! I have seen so many of them that are amazing, and I wanted to write my own. I started a story on the Sims3 site, but the story maker is REALLY BAD! It shrinks photos so small, they get warped and pixelated. It's also been crashing a lot and giving everyone a hard time. Anyhow, I've had a few good ideas for stories and I want to post them somewhere that is easier to navigate, has *spell check!* and won't shrink my pics to the size of thumbnails.

I will be back soon with a story, I hope everyone will enjoy it!
